Easy Access to Excellent Health Care

Edmond Medical Center

Edmond Medical Center (EMC) continues its 61-year commitment to the community by expanding service offerings to meet Edmond’s needs. The hospital’s medical staff numbers over 300 physicians, representing more than 50 medical specialties. EMC provides quality patient care close to home through its low patient-to-nurse ratio and technologies typically found only at larger hospitals. Among the HCA chain of more than 190 hospitals, EMC consistently ranks in the top ten percent in performance both fiscally and in customer service satisfaction.

In early 2008, EMC completed an extensive expansion and renovation of its Radiology Department to bring the best technology home to Edmond and increase comfort and privacy to its patients. In honor of EMC’s longtime Director of Radiology, the hospital renamed the department the Cleo Hunt Diagnostic Imaging Center. The new unit houses a 64-slice CT scanner, a nuclear medicine scanner, six digital radio-fluoroscopy rooms, mammography room, a bone densitometer, MRI, a new surgical C arm, and a digital archiving system.

EMC’s Hyperbaric/Wound Care center is rapidly becoming a regional hub for patients needing specialized treatment in chronic wounds. The experienced physicians and staff concentrate exclusively on wound care techniques and possess advanced degrees in wound care management and provide treatment programs tailored to the individual patient.

The state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit increases the breadth and sophistication of services offered, as well as the ability to provide critically ill patients with high levels of care close to home. Its new, larger laboratory facility enables the hospital to expand its scope of testing, and provides faster turnaround times for both inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Services at EMC’s 94-bed acute-care facility include a fully staffed Emergency Department, Heart Cath Lab, cardiac calcium scoring, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, cardiopulmonary care, intensive care, rehabilitative services, diagnostic radiology, kyphoplasty, mammography, pain management, medical/surgical, hyperbarics/wound care, and the Autumn Life Center, one of the area’s leading geropsychiatric units. The hospital also features a Surgical Department that offers some of the most innovative products and technologies available. The hospital’s commitment to community education is demonstrated by offering a full range of educational programs and support groups.

Mercy Health Center

With an almost 200-year heritage in serving others, Mercy Health Center continues to offer compassionate care alongside the most advanced medical treatments. Almost half of Mercy Health Network’s clinics are now located in Edmond because Mercy continues a longstanding commitment to the Edmond community. Of nine Mercy clinics, four are located in Edmond.

With the addition of Mercy Edmond Westbrook, Mercy adds five family practice physicians to its team, along with three family practice physicians and one pediatrician to Mercy’s new location at 15th and Fretz. Edmond Santa Fe has six physicians, and Mercy Health Edmond Memorial clinic has a team of eight physicians and one nurse specialist, and continues to offer urgent care seven days a week through Mercy After Hours.

Besides Mercy being the first hospital in Oklahoma to be named a Magnet hospital – the gold standard in nursing care – Mercy was also recently named the “best medical facility” by Oklahomans.

Recognized as a primary stroke center by The Joint Commission, Mercy is the most experienced hospital in Oklahoma in the treatment of all types of stroke. With four interventional radiologists and a nursing stroke team, Mercy offers Oklahomans stroke care that is available 24/7. Since 2001, more than half of Mercy’s stroke patients have recovered in a week or less. They have gone home, able to resume normal activities with almost no trace of ever having had a stroke.

In addition, Mercy’s robotic surgery team under the direction of Oklahoma’s only fellowship trained robotic surgeon Brian Link, MD, offers a less invasive option for urologic and gynecologic surgeries.

The Mercy campus also includes –

Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, delivering the highest level of medical care to critically ill newborns with an expansion underway from 28 to 42 NICU beds.

NeuroScience Institute, the largest concentration of neuroscience services in the southwest, providing the most comprehensive neurological care in the state.

MS Center of Oklahoma, Oklahoma’s only multiple sclerosis center, bringing together a group of physicians and clinical staff with multiple sclerosis expertise, along with the latest in technology and the most current clinical advancements for treating multiple sclerosis.

Oklahoma Heart Hospital, the first digital hospital in the nation and a national leader in cardiovascular care, with one of the highest patient satisfaction rankings in the nation.

Mercy Women’s Center, a long-time leader in providing women with the most advanced diagnostic tools to ensure breast health, including experience in breast MRI that rivals leading cancer centers in the U.S.
